Is Pilates and Yoga the same? No, though they do have some commonalities.
Yoga is more of a spiritual practice that uses various poses that help improve your connection to your spirit through body alignments while also improving your posture and flexibility. I tried it, its hard, I have much respect for yogi students indeed!
Pilates also focuses on engaging the mind and body together but with a different goal.
Pilates uses your body awareness and breath to better connect and strengthen the core, improve your balance, and increase your coordination (Balance Body Education LLC, Revision 1, 2019). Every exercise should be performed with attention to the breath, proper form, and efficient movement patterns. Which is why it is perfect for rehabilitation and beyond. One of Stay Great's goal is to bridge the gap between recovery and fitness. We strive to give you the confidence you need to get back to engaging with your community, however that looks for you!
