A Quick History of Pilates!

*Pilates is a systematic method of physical training developed in 1912 by Joseph Pilates during WW1 while he was held at an internment camp after moving from Germany to England. He initially started to develop his exercise regime for his fellow detainees as a preventative measure for sickness, but because it was so successful he was recruited to use his method to help wounded soldiers.

*His method became very popular in the dance community and today it has been adopted by various health professionals and fitness communities as a rehabilitation tool as well as a way for people to remain moving no matter  their level of fitness.

*Once he was released he met his wife and they moved to New York and he developed all types of pilates equipment with the ideal for the method to be accessible to all in and out of the home.
