Restorative Pilates for Cancer Survivors
Cancer is becoming more prevalent in adults globally; and though medical advancements have reduced mortality, the aftermath or side effects of treatment have negatively impacted people's quality of life [1]. In my clinical experience I have had clients come in looking to address postural deficits, neck stiffness/pain, and cervicogenic related dizziness. Other side effects post cancer treatment include fatigue, decreased strength, and various functional limitations [2]. Restorative Pilates can be an effective tool to address these impairments safely during treatment as well to re-introduce clients back to fitness [3].
Past Client Feedback from the Restorative Pilates Program with Stay Great Physical Therapy-Martin Method™ Mentee: “I did not realize how much I had been “just getting by”. I can tolerate walking and standing at work better. I just feel good”
